Is COVID-19 Affecting Your Health?
How is the COVID-19 Pandemic Affecting Your Health and Wellbeing?
Is COVID-19 affecting your health and wellbeing? I think we can all agree that over the last 6 months or so life has been an unusual experience. Our most comfortable routines have been disrupted. We are all needing to rethink how we go about our daily activities.
Our contact with those we care for most may have been restricted. We may be left feeling that the freedoms we once have taken for granted are now outside of our reach.

How Covid-19 Can Affect Your Thoughts, Feelings and Emotions?
Our thoughts, feelings and emotions can be affected by a pandemic such as COVID-19. So, how are you really? I’m not asking this in the hurried polite way we may ask someone as we rush onto our next activity.
Take a moment to think about how you might be really feeling. Is COVID-19 affecting your health?
What are you noticing about the effect of lockdown now that some restrictions are being lifted? How do you feel about returning to some of your normal activities post-lockdown?
Have you noticed changes in your moods, your thought patterns, the way that you’ve been sleeping? How are your relationships with family members or friends? Do you live alone? If so, how has the additional isolation affected you? Are you experiencing financial insecurity or struggling with the challenges of working from home alongside balancing care for family members?
Get Help Coping With COVID-19
The Riverside provides help coping with COVID-19. It’s helpful to recognise that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is a global experience. Feelings of anxiety, low mood, helplessness or the emergence of intense feelings of frustration or anger are very natural responses in the circumstances we may find ourselves in at this time.
So, what do you think you might need? Will it be enough to get back to work, the gym, some normality of social contact? Or have you found that the uncertainty of this time has left you unsettled, perhaps reluctant to return to ‘normality?’ Has the need for social distancing created a fear of connecting with others?
It is important to take some time for self-care … and yes, I know that you may have so much to do, however it is time to consider what you may need to support your well-being in these challenging times.
