Acupuncture Nottingham

Acupuncture in Nottingham with James Screeton BSc (Hons), offering individualised treatment in a calm clinical setting at Riverside Natural Health Centre.

People seek acupuncture for many different reasons, particularly persistent pain, muscular tension and stress-related symptoms. The evidence is stronger for some conditions than others, so treatment decisions should be based on your individual situation rather than assuming acupuncture is equally supported for every problem.

Acupuncture: evidence, safety and further reading

Acupuncture research does not support every condition equally. NICE recommends considering a course of acupuncture or dry needling for chronic primary pain, but separately recommends not offering acupuncture for low-back pain with or without sciatica. That is why Riverside avoids presenting acupuncture as a universal treatment for every pain condition.

The NHS also notes that acupuncture may be offered for some long-term pain and migraine-type headaches, while safety depends on factors such as medical history, medicines and skin condition.

Before treatment: tell James if you take blood-thinning medicine, have a bleeding disorder, skin infection, are pregnant, have a pacemaker if electroacupuncture might be considered, or have any condition that may affect treatment.

Read NICE guidance on chronic primary pain and NHS information on complementary therapies and acupuncture safety.
